Ross Holman – Founder/CEO
Ross founded Palomino Consulting Group, LLC (formerly Palomino Professional Services) to help executives and IT leaders create "habits of excellence" in their IT organizations - resulting in improving IT credibility, value and branding.
From 2005 to 2007, he was the Vice-President of Research, Development and Customer Service for HyPerformix, an Austin high tech software and services company. He was recruited by the CEO to make significant improvements in their software release and customer service processes as well as support product development and pre-sales efforts. During a subsequent CEO change, he was part of a three member CEO committee that led the company for six months.
From 1998 to 2002, he was the Vice-President of Systems and CIO at Southwest Airlines where he was responsible for leading 700+ people and provide business value for Southwest’s technology strategies, software development, and technical/network operations. His organization supported Southwest's headquarters in Dallas and 60+ airports/maintenance bases/crew bases. He was also a member of Southwest Airlines’ Executive Planning Committee that focused on business and competitive issues facing the airlines. While at Southwest, his organization and Southwest won several awards from CIO Magazine, CIO 100 Award (2), and Computerworld, Best IT Places to Work (2). Southwest consistently won awards and in the Top 10 every year from Fortune Magazine as one of the Best Places to Work and Most Admired Companies.
Before joining Southwest, Ross was the Vice-President of Information Technology and CIO for three years at PageNet, the world’s largest wireless messaging company. He led 450+ people and improved the IT organization’s business value for PageNet's information technology strategies, software development and technical operations. His organization supported headquarters in Plano, Texas and 100+ PageNet decentralized US operations. He and his organization helped PageNet grow in excess of 20% per year.
He spent over four years, 1991 to 1995, in Dallas and Reston, Virginia with Sprint as the Vice-President of Business Systems Development in their long distance division. In this role, he served in a divisional CIO capacity, software development and operations, for all of Sprint’s systems supporting broadband network products for their Commercial Products Division, Sprint International and Sprint Federal Government Division. While in Dallas, he led the software development and support teams for Sprint's largest software application that processed and rated over 1.5 billion long distance calls per month.
Ross spent 13 years in the business and IT consulting industry with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in Oklahoma City (12 years) and Price Waterhouse in Dallas (1 year). He was responsible for selling and performing over 40 successful business/IT projects to clients such as Halliburton, Hershey Foods, Union Pacific Corp., Union Pacific Resources, CITGO, Texas Treasury Department, University of Oklahoma Foundation and over 20 independent oil and gas exploration companies. He was part of both Andersen’s and Price Waterhouse’s Firm-Wide Oil and Gas Teams, and led the firm-wide college recruiting at the University of Oklahoma.
He is an avid supporter of many non-profit and educational organizations. Has most recently been on the Board of Directors for NPower of Texas, and on the Michael F. Price College of Business Board of Advisors. From 1992 to 1994, he was the President of CBAAC, the College of Business Administration Alumni Council. He earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Oklahoma, BBA- Finance, 1974 and MBA, 1977. He was initiated into Beta Gamma Sigma for his academic achievements while earning his MBA.
